LED Lighting

LED lighting installation is an energy efficient lighting system that reduces your lighting costs and more importantly is compliant with California’s title 24 code. LED lighting has come a long way in the last few years and is becoming more affordable. LED lights allow for an even spread of lighting which reduces shadows and fills the room with higher lumens while using very low wattage.

LEDs have many advantages over incandescent light sources, including lower energy consumption, longer lifetime, improved physical robustness, smaller size, and faster switching. Light-emitting diodes can be used in and around the home and can be found in under cabinet lighting, in the restroom for vanities, outdoor lighting and surface mounted fixtures and much more.

LEDs come in different spectrums of light – from 3000K (residential lighting that fives a warmer lighting effect) to 5000K (typically found in a commercial environment giving off white light which is brighter) – depending upon the preference of the color of light.

Color/Lumens (85% dimming capable) Standard recessed light vary in lumens 750-1200 lumens. A good LED light should have a higher percentage of dimming capability. 85% dimming capability is recommended.

Recessed Lighting

We recommend Westgate recessed lighting due to the number of lumens they produce and their dimming capability. Additionally, the manufacture offers a 5-year warranty which usually is an indication of a quality fixture. They are energy star compliant, underwriters laboratory (UL) tested and designed with a driver that has cooling capability giving the light a longer life expectancy.

All surface mounted fixtures are customer provided. Installation of wall sconces require electrical wiring that can be branched off an existing switch or nearby existing electrical. Courtesy patches are included but are not considered paint ready. All installations are done in a top-quality workmanlike manner and follow National Electrical Code (NEC). Installation not done by a qualified electrician can result in a hazardous environment and can cause fires and serious injury.

In some cases, surface mounted lighting can be installed where recessed lighting is not required such as closets, pantries, laundry rooms and garages. There are low-profile LED fixtures that produce enough brilliance to illuminate the entire area and have a long-life expectancy. Certain minimums apply if surface mounted lights are desired in lieu of recessed lighting.

Wall Sconces

Wall sconces are typically found in bathrooms above sinks, outside porch lighting fixtures, or when you overhead lighting is not an option. They are usually installed as an alternative to recessed lights. These sleek luminaries provide indirect lighting for hallways, bathrooms, stairways, and other tight spots, and work as wall accents. They can be used for aesthetic lighting to create ambiance. All surface mounted fixtures are customer provided. Pendants (Hanging Fixture)

Pendants are ceiling mounted fixtures typically found over kitchen islands, countertop areas, and over dining room tables. They are typically used as aesthetic lighting to compliment the design of a room while producing some countertop task lighting. The height of pendant fixtures is 5-6ft high or head high and come in all shapes and sizes and vary in brightness. Pendant lighting fixtures are wired directly to a junction box in the ceiling and should only be installed by a certified electrician. All surface mounted fixtures are customer provided. Chandeliers (Hanging Fixture)

Whether the chandelier is modern, formal or casual, it can capture attention in a way that many other light fixtures can’t. Being the center of attention is no small feat, but chandeliers easily create a focal point in any room. Whether it is their unique design or soft, elegant glow, chandeliers bring a room to life and illuminate the rest of the room to look more appealing. Some things to consider when installing a chandelier in your home includes:

Is there enough attic access for the electrical wiring installation?
Is the fixture too small or too large for the room it’s being installed in?
Is the height of the fixture sufficient to create the correct focal point?
Is the area below where the fixture is being installed sufficient for a tall ladder or scaffolding?

Chandeliers are typically installed in entry areas, stairwells, living rooms and above dining room tables.
Chandeliers come in many shapes and sizes.

Degree of difficulty determines the cost. It is important to communicate the weight, the size and the height of the ceiling when requesting a quote. In some cases, a chandelier may require proper scaffolding, tall ladder and/or proper equipment to safely install your chandelier. Installation of electrical wiring and smart boxes are used to properly support the weight of a heavier fixture. Chandeliers sometime require an extended amount of assembly time which results in higher costs. An appointment must be made to asses the area and inspect the fixture to determine the cost of the job.
